Why Dave’s Spot?
Why not!?!
I’m kidding. Yes, I do realize that this now makes me one of those ‘internet geeks’ who seem to think that their life is interesting enough for people to want to read about it…but that isn’t really the case here. I have no expectations that you’ll stick around long enough to actually read past the next paragraph!
I wanted an easy way to keep track of the number of days I’ve spent mountian biking this season. A notebook wasn’t working, as I inevitably leave it at home when I need it in the car, or at work when I leave for the weekend. Keeping an email record worked great until I crashed both my blackberry and my computer on the same day…poof…no record anymore. So, “Dave’s Spot” was started. It’s easy, I can update it from anywhere (even using my blackberry!) and Marc’s server automatically backs it up…or at least, I assume it does! (mental note: check that…)
In July 2005 I broke my collarbone in a rather spectacular display of “what the heck just happened?!” Since I could no longer ride, the blog grew to become less of a riding journal, and more of a ‘window-in’ on what I’m up to in life. Quite frankly, I have no good reason to have a blog…but it becomes addicting too. At the very least, and perhaps at the very most, it’s become a great way to communicate with all my friends about the adventures I get myself involved in.
In short, it’s just plain fun.
Have a look around, I suppose. I’m not really sure how it will interest you…unless I start going off on random rants! I suspect websites like these are like weeds…they either die out in a matter of weeks, or grow to become something ridiculous and unmanagable…
