A little bit about Dave

The original “a little bit about Dave” page was getting a little old. Especially since it was done in 2005-ish.

I suppose, being March 2008, it’s time for an update!?!

I still think you must be super bored if you’re reading this…

A quick photo of me (thanks Marc Landry) taken at blue in June 2005. I had just done a wickedly stupid bail off a hip jump. But, I suspect that’s the goofy grin I wear on my face most of the time.

Since I have some space to fill beside this photo:

Name: Dave

Age: 28, still going on 17

Shoe Size: 12

Drivetrain: SRAM

Beer: Creemore, Keiths, Moosehead, Ricards Red, and now Hockley Valley thanks to Steve. Just want I need, another Ontario only beer I can’t get here.

Wine: Ah wine, glorious wine. Promis, C.Del Diablo, this list would just be too long.

Number of cars: 2, and a truck

Most cars at one time: 8, plus a couple of parts cars I apparently forgot about.

Number of Bikes:3

Number I actually ride: All three this year.

I own a silly amount of cars for a guy who doesn’t own a driveway. Warwick, who owns the driveway, is starting to point this fact out to me..

Anyways, the current rides are:

Francois the Ford - Acting as shuttle truck and daily gas hog.

The rally car…in track trim

The Black Stallion. Dying a slow death on the driveway.

While long since gone…this will always be my greatest triumph. And, yes, I paid $50 for it.

What’s your main philosophy in life? It was Three thoughts, but I’ve expanded it to four:

1) What big thing would you do if you knew you couldn’t fail?

2) No greater love then this: he who laid his life down for his friends.

3) Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming “Wow! What a ride!”

4) I don’t believe you can accurately measure a man by the car he drives, the bike he rides or the things he owns. I don’t think his job, his medals or or his diplomas are an accurate measure either. While these are good things, I believe the way to measure a man is to look at his friends. It’s not necessarily the quantity of true friends that is the deciding quality, but rather the quality. All of us, at some point, will find ourselves in great need. ‘Society’ says that the way deal with these situations is what defines our character and greatness. While this may be true, it speaks only of your future actions. The defining moment of character, I believe, is when that moment of great need comes…when you find yourself completely lost and unsure of what to do…how you find yourself surrounded, either alone or with a great group of friends holding you up, is what defines your character…it has measured your sucess. We will all need help in life at some time…but our character and actions now will determine if that help is there when we need it.
